primary duties :Be part of a hospital rebuilt in late 2004 that is a new state of the art facility providing healthcare to a population of 105,000. With our client's PACS digital radiology, MRI, CT and iSOFT patient management system, there's no better place to take a leading role in maintaining and enhancing their general medical and respiratory services. You will work with three certified Respiratory Technologists who provide a wide range of diagnostic tests including challenging testing. There is a dedicated sleep technologist responsible for diagnosis, fitting and ongoing care of patients in their community with CPTAP and BiPAP units. You would be the sole respiratory physician and work closely with the tertiary level services in Otago and Canterbury, which are within close geographical location. You would provide full outpatient respiratory services to the Southland population and inpatient consultation service. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with six General Physicians each of whom has a subspecialty interest and one Geriatrician. The team is supported by Registrars and House Officers. You may participate in an on call roster of 1:5 for general medicine. The department of General Medicine is actively involved in teaching and is accredited for post graduate training by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). It is affiliated with the Dunedin School of Medicine and actively supports fourth and final year students within the department, with Physicians providing Senior Lecturer roles to the School of Medicine.
