Note:  Do not apply for this job if your experience is limited to designing the components of fire protection systems.  That is NOT what this role is about.  What I’m looking for is a senior FPE who has building services design experience.   You must have prior experience (a) advising architects on what needs to change, (b) familiar with building codes and standards, (c) knowledge of fire ratings, (d) knows what materials are allowed and not and where, (e) have designed egress routes; (f) designed safe routes, (g) determined where fire protection systems go in buildings, (h) done FDS modelling and has a Bachelors or Masters in Fire Protection Engineer, not in Mechanical Engineering.

 

Job Title:            Senior Fire Protection Engineer for Building Services Consultancy

Location:           Christchurch, New Zealand

Job Type:           Permanent, Direct Hire

Relocation:        Some support will be provided to the successful candidate (Do keep in mind that it’s not normal for NZ companies to help with relocation related costs so don’t expect too much.)

Salary:                $90000-110000 (senior) DOE/DOQ

Start Date:         Negotiable.  Within 60-90 days after start date

Work Visa:        Your work visa, as required, will be issued within four weeks after you submit all of the required paperwork.

Primary Technical & Related Requirements Include:

• We are seeking seasoned, mature, senior level, highly experienced senior fire protection engineer with excellent technical and communication skills who can hit the ground running and needs little or no mentoring. You will need postgraduate qualifications in fire engineering (Masters or postgrad diploma) and ideally familiarity with local codes, although international experience would be acceptable. Familiarity with FDS modelling would be of benefit;
• Excellent English, communications and team oriented work skills;
• Able to travel within the district and province;
• Have designed egress routes, determined where fire protection systems go in buildings, designed safe routes, performed real-time smoke and fire modelling;
• Current and valid driver’s license; and
• Able and willing to commit at least 3-5 years, or longer.

Primary job responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• You will be involved in a wide variety of work including high quality residential, commercial, health, education and industrial projects throughout the South Island and further afield, from project conception through to completion; and
• Your core duties will consist of specific fire engineering design, using the latest technology in real time smoke and fire modelling.Byukdung
