As their Specialist Clinician you will (a) conduct comprehensive DSM-5 Psychiatric assessments, (b) practice with clinical autonomy supported by second-opinion safety net where every case has optional psychiatrist consultant; (c) focus on clinical excellence without administrative burden;

Must have your full vocational registration in Psychiatry by the Medical Council of New Zealand, members of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, commitment to comprehensive DSM-5 assessments, interest in neurodevelopment conditions, a patient-centred approach and clinical practice to the highest level of excellence.

Must have NZ work authorisation, including NZ citizenship, NZ residency and/or Australia citizenship.

As Lead Psychiatrist, you will provide strategic and clinical leadership for their ADHD services. You will work closely with their management team, clinical team, and operations team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality care across all patient pathways.

Their Gold Standard in clinical Governance includes:
(1) DSM-5 Criteria – Full psychiatric assessments; DIVA-5 diagnostic interview; Conners rating scales; Weiss impairment scales; Barkley ADHD scales
(2) Governance – Clinical Auditing; Risk register; Root cause analysis; Duty of candour; Second-opinion safety net; clinical supervision; incident reporting, Quality assurance
(3) Object measures – ObTest that is approved for NZ usage; quantifiable clinical data;

What We’re Looking For
• A New Zealand registered Psychiatrist (FRANZCP or equivalent) with a current practising certificate.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-registration clinical experience, including significant ADHD expertise.
• Strong knowledge of DSM-5/ICD-11 ADHD diagnostic criteria and best-practice prescribing.
• Experience supervising or leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with telehealth models of care.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Comfortable managing clinical risk and complex presentations.
• Organised, proactive, and able to balance leadership with clinical practice.

Desirable
• Experience in private practice or digital health/startup settings.
• Interest in service development, training, or research.
• Knowledge of wider neurodivergent and mental health conditions (e.g. autism, anxiety, trauma).

Key Responsibilities
• Provide clinical leadership across ADHD assessment and treatment pathways.
• Conduct and oversee psychiatric assessments, diagnostic confirmation, and prescribing.
• Supervise, support, and mentor ADHD assessors and nurse prescribers.
• Develop and maintain clinical protocols in line with best practice and New Zealand regulations.
• Oversee clinical governance including audits, safeguarding, complaints handling, and quality assurance.
• Review complex or borderline diagnostic cases and provide senior decision-making support.
• Work with the wider team to review and improve patient experience, digital tools, and clinical pathways.
• Ensure compliance with all professional and regulatory standards (e.g. MCNZ, privacy law, prescribing rules).
• Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new clinicians as the service grows.
