• While I have numerous opportunities for Clinical Psychologists who want to work with (a) Adults or (b) Children and Adolescents utilising various treatment methodologies, this is one that I particularly hope that you may find interesting.
In a nutshell, one of my clients on the North island has asked me to help them find someone to join their ACT team that is based in Hamilton. You may want to know that:
 This is a small and cohesive team who respects their management;
 This team has a low turnover of staff;
 The team has good Doctor cover;
 Work closely with clients who have serious and enduring, complex mental health issues, eg co-morbidity;
 Many of the clients have a history of re-admission;
 Clients often live with psychosis, feel socially isolated and stigmatised with little or no support;
 Some clients have not responded or engaged well in the past with community mental health services;
 This particular team works intensively with a small caseload with the aim of improving all issues, including those noted above;
 A Psychologist who will thrive on this team is one who has outstanding engagement and rapport-building skills;
 The ability to see past diagnostic labels as well as be patient while appreciating the significance of small gains is important;
 Consultation Liaison with others who are part of the services can be another rewarding aspect of this work;
 Cognitive remediation has delivered some impressive results with these clients;
 Skills in cognitive remediation and/or the desire to learn this approach would be of interest to this team and their management;
 There is a large community of highly skilled Psychologists who are part of the service base who offer knowledge sharing and the kind of professional stimulation and colleagial support that often can be quite stimulating and rewarding for team members.
Benefits that come with this full-time position include: (a) four weeks’ paid annual leave, (b) 13 paid public holidays, (c) paid sick leave after being on the job for a certain amount of time, (d) financial support for CE, (e) attractive relocation assistance package, (f) competitive compensation and (g) other goodies to be discussed at time of offer.
